Brenda Wairimu has been named as Mwamba Rugby Club acting honorary secretary replacing Jason Rozario Braganza.
Making the announcement, the club president Alvas Onguru said that Jason asked to be excused from club duties due work commitments that will see him spent quite amount of time out of the country. “Jason is currently in the UK on work commitment and has a new role with much more responsibility and much more travel than will allow him to execute his role as our club secretary. However, he will be fully available to perform any task that the club may assign to him from time to time. Please join me in thanking him for the exemplary service he has rendered to the Mwamba Rugby Football Club in his capacity as Honorary Secretary, and indeed in several other capacities over the years. At the same time, kindly allow me to introduce to you Brenda Wairimu who will be the acting honorary secretary till we hold our elections,” he added.
Speaking to MwambaRugby.Com, Ms Wairimu is excited at the chance of working for her club. “This is an opportunity to work for the club I love. I am looking forward to working with the Executive Committee on developing more partnerships, ensuring timely and relevant communication to relevant stakeholders and assisting in fulfilling our responsibilities to our players, sponsors and our fans,” she said.
Ms Wairimu is not new to the club as she has been heavily but effectively involved in planning and hosting of the popular George Mwangi Kabeberi Memorial Sevens for several years now. She takes over the role at a time the club is preparing for Dala Sevens, the last leg of the 2017 National Sevens Circuit.
The club wishes Mr Jason all the best in his new role and welcomes Ms Wairimu to the Executive Committee.
