DALA 7S: It Wasn’t Good Enough

Mwamba RFC collected 10 points as they made an unsuccessful Dala Sevens title challenge in Kisumu over the weekend.

Kulabu started the day brightly seeing off hard fighting Blak Blad RFC 19-7 before thrashing KCA RFC 36-5. The Black Shirts juggernaut grounded to a halt in the last game of the day when they lost 0-43 to an inspired Strathmore Leos RFC. Interestingly, Mwamba had tossed out Leos from Main Cup quarters at Christies the previous weekend.

The two wins were enough to set an enticing quarterfinals clash with eventual winners Nakuru RFC. Despite mounting a sipirted defence and counterattacks, the Wanyores were too strong for the young Mwamba RFC running out 10-0 victors. In the Plate semis, Homeboyz RFC were again too strong for Mwamba winning the tie 15-0.agevi

Dala 7s has never been a kind hunting ground for Kulabu as they bowed out in the Bowl semis last year. The team now shifts focus to Driftwood Sevens to be held in Mombasa on the weekend of 22nd and 23rd August.
