Kevin Wambua scored two tries and kicked five conversions as he led Mwamba RFC to a 57-0 romp against a hapless Thika RFC in a Kenya Cup encounter played at Nairobi Railway Club on Saturday afternoon.
Winger Mike Agevi opened the scoring after five minutes but Shaban Ahmed missed the kick. Soon after restart, lock Nick Ongeri broke through to touch down under the post. Wambua kick was good for a 12-0 lead.
Wambua then grabbed the third try but missed the conversion. After the restart, it was Greg Odhiambo’s turn to go into the scorers books as he outsprinted his marker to touch down near the far post. Wambua missed the kick.
Flanker Jeremy Griffiths was next into the try box landing down after breaking down on the wing. Wambua’s kick was accurate for a 29-0 halftime score.
After the resumption, Mwamba RFC scored quick tries from substitutes Chris Asego and Clyde Mulandi with Wambua adding extras. Greg added his second before Wambua added the final try and conversion for a 57-0 final score.
Mwamba RFC now climb up the log to seventh after six matches with 16 points 10 behind leaders Impala RFC. Kulabu’s next game is against Bungoma Sharks in Bungoma on Saturday.
