Mwamba Rugby Club has signed a partnership with leading radio broadcaster Capital FM for publicity of the upcoming Kabeberi Sevens to be held on September 8-10th, 2017 at RFUEA Grounds, Ngong Road.
The ground-breaking partnership will see Capital FM run tournament activations both on radio and online, with scheduled announcements and interviews. These will be aimed at creating awareness and hype around Kabeberi Sevens, one of Nairobi’s biggest rugby tournament.
Commenting on the partnership, the tournament director Anthony Karanja: “Capital FM are huge in sports and entertainment and so it was very natural for us to partner with them on the upcoming Kabeberi Sevens. This is not the first time we are working with Capital FM on Kabeberi. We’ve had successful partnership in the past and we’re forward to this year experience.”
The George Mwangi Kabeberi Memorial Sevens, popularly known as the Kabeberi Sevens, was first played in 1986 to commemorate the passing away of the charismatic George Mwangi Kabeberi, one of the founding members of the Mwamba club. Over the years, the significance of the tournament has been expanded to honour departed club members, including recently departed Leeroy Okara, Absalom “Bimbo” Mutere, Abedeen Shikoyi, Jimmy Owino and lately Victor Wayodi among others.
