Kenya Cup, ESS play offs up next for Kulabu!

Mwamba RFC   are through to Kenya Cup and Eric Shirley Shield play offs despite going down 18-25 (Kenya Cup) and 14-19 (ESS) in matches played at KCB Sports Club on Saturday afternoon.

In Kenya Cup, KCB were the first on the scoreboard with a try off a maul but George Mutuku penalty reduced the deficit.  Centre referee Peter Leo then awarded KCB a penalty try that strecthed their lead to 12-3. Once again Mutuku kicked a penalty to half KCB’s lead.  KCB again got their third try off another maul for a 17-6 halftime lead.

After resumption, KCB continued with their rolling mauls and got their fourth try before Humphrey Kayange landed under the posts and Mutuku kicked. KCB got another penalty before Greg showed a clean pair of heels to score in the corner for a 25-18 final score.

Mwamba RFC got a losing bonus point in this match that pushed their points tally to 47 level with Nakuru RFC but they proceeded to play offs with a better goal difference.

In ESS, Brian Kivasia kicked three penalties and Daniel Taabu scored a try  but it was not enough to win the match. We went down 14-19 but also got a crucial losing bonus point.
