Mwamba Ladies RFC were in imperious form as they hit their archrivals KCB Ladies RFC 26-7 to win inaugural Kenya Rugby Union’s Women League on Sunday 12 July 2015 at the RFUEA Grounds.
Mwamba and KCB were in with an equal chance of being crowned champions heading into the final round and as fate would have it, the two sides met in the decider, Mwamba winning the match 26-7 to claim top honors.
It was the bankers who went ahead through Phila Olando’s converted try but Celestine Navalayo Masinde scored three tries, two of which were converted by Janet Owino to give Kulabu Ladies a 19-7 leader at the interval before Owino converted Sinaida Aura’s try to seal the result and title for Mwamba who also received a Ksh 20,000 cash prize. Masinde went home with the woman of the match accolade while Olando was crowned overall most valuable player. They topped the table with 53 points ,four clear of second placed KCB on 49 points.
