Mwamba RFC wrapped up preseason activities with mixed results in a two-match series played against Impala Saracens at Impala Club on Saturday afternoon.
Kulabu won the first game 32-10 but lost the second duel 0-29. Mwamba had selected two evenly matched squads as the coaches tried various combinations and structures.
Head coach Johnny Mbai had said that he was using the two matches to gauge his preparations ahead of a very competitive Kenya Cup season. “We’ve been working on various structures and combinations and we hope to see how my boys will apply them in a game situation,” he told MwambaRugby.Com.
Meanwhile the team’s focus now shifts to the 2015/2016 Kenya Cup season that kicks on Saturday November 21st against Western Bulls. The match will be played at Railways Grounds and will be preceded by the Eric Shirley Shield match between the second sides of the two clubs.
The club’s treasurer Anthony Karanja has urged fans to turn out in large numbers and show their support for the boys. “We want to fill the stands and sing for the boys as they take on Bulls. We can do this. So I’m asking all fans irrespective of age to show up on Saturday and cheer the boys,” he told MwambaRugby.Com.
Tickets for the opener will retail at KShs250 and will be sold at the gate on the match day.
