Namusasi back as Stanbic Mwamba kicks off 2020 action

Newly re-signed fly half Elvis Namusasi has been named in the starting Stanbic Mwamba XV that will take on Menengail Oilers in this weekend’s Kenya Cup action at Nakuru Showgrounds.

Namusasi is back at Kulabu after he rejoined from Mombasa RFC for the rest of the season. He is among the eight new signings including Kenya Simba lock Andrew Chogo. Chogo will however play for the reserves this weekend.

Head coach Kevin Wambua has maintained the trio of Eugene Sudi, Brian Kahura and Jonah Mbari in the front row. They will be supported by George Omolla and Chris Asira in the locks. Assistant captain Stephen Sikuta, Michael Okello and Tony Owuor make up versatile back row.

Eugene Nzioka will pair up with his old mate Namusasi in the half backs with skipper Patrick Ruhiu and Michael Agevi doing battle in the midfield. Joel Inzuga moves from open wing to blind wing giving way to Sabala Tendwa with utility Ronnie Omondi completing the back three.

On the finishers roll, veteran Salaton Muturi, Deus Mudaki and James Yuko will cover the front row with Paul Wahome and Edwin Machanje as the other replacement forwards.

Charles Chege, Felix “Top Dog” Otieno and Kenyan sevens international Daniel Taabu are the backline finishers.
