Stanbic Mwamba had a busy mid-season break as they went on the market to sign ten players to bolster their 2019/2020 Kenya Cup campaign.
Here we introduce to you the ten Kulabu signings:
Not a stranger to Stanbic Mwamba as he was part of the squad that finished third in the 2018/2019 Kenya Cup league. A wily and elusive playmaker, Namusasi has previously played for Western Bulls and Mombasa RFC. He is also a Kenya Simbas trialist earning the call-up under the former tactician Ian Snook in 2018. He can also play as full back.
2. Andrew Chogo
Chogo was part of the 2018 Kenya Simbas squad that finished second in Gold Cup. He has previously played for TUK Mustangs, Homeboyz RFC and Kabras Sugar RFC. He will join Kulabu on loan till the end of the season. He’s Test level lock.
3. Anthony Baka
Baka finalises his transfer to Kulabu from KCB where he had been registered. He has previously turned out for Mean Machine as well. He can play as a centre, wing or full back.
4. Biko Masiva
Biko is another player that is not new to Kulabu. The versatile utility back has come through the fabled Stanbic Mwamba age-grade system before leaving Nairobi for studies in Nakuru. He later signed for Kisumu, his last club before he came back home. He can play fly half, centre as well as scrum half.
5. James Ochieng
Jimmy’s stay at his adopted home has been confirmed. The winger joined Kulabu in 2018 on loan from Northern Suburbs. He was part of the victorious 2019 Prinsloo Sevens squad. He has also been a permanent fixture in our reserve side. He’s now a full Stanbic Mwamba player.
6. Ian Wamalwa
The Kenya Under 20 trainee has his stay at Stanbic Mwamba confirmed after initially joining in September on loan from Kisumu RFC. The lanky lock who also plays back row has been turning out for our ESS side in the first half of the season. His performance has caught the eye of the Chipu management who has invited him to train with the team ahead of 2020 Barthes Cup.
7. Dennis Momanyi
The nifty scrumhalf is back home. Dennis has been in and out of Stanbic Mwamba due to academic commitments. He has finally come back home and is ready to help his boyhood club for the remainder of the season.
8. Paul Aboung
Paul joins Stanbic Mwamba from TUK Mustang and he will be in good company joining his former teammate Tony Omondi. Biggie is a lock as well as a number eight.
9. Edward Oloo
Ayala comes back to the club where he learnt his rugby while still a student at Laiser Hill. He re-joins the club from Daystar Falcons and he will be in good company as Kulabu has his former teammates at both Lasier Hill and Falcons.
10. Rogan Shinali
The fleet-footed winger comes into the club from MUK Stingers. He follows his former teammate Michael Okello to Kulabu.
11. Cliff Nakaya
The hard-hitting centre joins the club from Daystar Falcons. He will be in joining the club and link up with a number of his teammates.
12. Brian Orwa
Orwa joins Stanbic Mwamba from Kitale RFC. The prop who can either play as tight head or loosehead will make his debut against Menengai Oilers this weekend.
