Elite rugby action crosses over into the golf world during the 2018 George Mwangi Kabeberi Sevens, set for Machakos Golf Club on August 17, 2018.
Golf and rugby enthusiasts can now register for the exclusive chance to play 18 holes of golf with international rugby legends and local golf amateurs and pros as a way to kick off the annual Kabeberi Sevens that will take place the following day at Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos, for the first time ever.
The 2018 Kabeberi Sevens Golf Tournament will be played in Stableford format which allows players to enjoy the game without keeping individual scores. International rugby players participating in this year’s golf classic include sevens legends Lavin Asego, Humphrey Kayange and former Kenya XV international hooker Vincent Ongera. Others are Newton Ongalo, Edwin Waita among others. Invited to the inuagraul golf tourney are Mwamba Rugby Club partners including Stanbic Bank, Modern Coast, Railway Club, Kenya Rugby Union, Gelian Hotel among many others. The tournament will also be graced by Machakos Golf Club golfers and other invited golf enthusiasts from the region.
Tournament entry for individual players and teams will be announced at a later date. Tournament players will also receive lunch and dinner, entry to the dance later in the evening, and passes to the rugby tournament. The top three players or teams of the golf tournament will take home exciting prizes.

The George Mwangi Kabeberi Memorial Sevens, popularly known as the Kabeberi Sevens, was first played in 1986 to commemorate the passing away of the charismatic George Mwangi Kabeberi, one of the founding members of the Mwamba club.
Over the years, the significance of the tournament has been expanded to honour departed club members, including recently departed Leeroy Okara, Absalom “Bimbo” Mutere, Abedeen Shikoyi, and Jimmy Owino and lately Victor Wayodi among others.
The 2018 edition of the Kabeberi Sevens is scheduled to be played on August 17-19 at Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos.
