Stanbic Mwamba will on Friday hold coaching clinics and corporate social responsibility activities in the western town of Kakamega ahead of their Saturday Kenya Cup semi final tie against Kabras Sugar RFC.
Kulabu, that arrived in Kakamega on Thursday night, has invited students from rugby powerhouses of Kakamega High School, Musingu High School and St. Peter’s Boys, Mumias to a rugby coaching clinic to be conducted by club’s coaches and players at Kakamega High School grounds.
The clinics will be held alongside a personal finance management training that will be run by club’s principal partner Stanbic Bank. The bank will train students on prudent financial management as well as introduce the Kakamega High fraternity to the products available.
On Saturday, fans will join players and bank staff in a CSR activity at Divine Providence Children’s Home.
Stanbic Mwamba’s Eunice Olembo, who is coordinating the activities, said that they chose to hold a rugby clinic in Kakamega as a way of giving back to the society that has produced enormous talent for both club and country. “We are alive to the fact that this region has produced some of the top talent for both our club and country. For instance in this squad we have Edwin Machanje, Michael Agevi and Martin Oyugi from Kakamega School, Deus Mudaki from Musingu and Elvis Namusasi from St Peter’s among many others who have not made the trip,” she said.
“It was only logical that we deepen our relationship with these institutions through these activities and we intend to be having these clinics every year and in different parts of the country.”
On the CSR, she said: “It’s been an incredible season for both men and ladies team season and we just wanted to celebrate the little milestones with the society. We chose Divine Providence to have this occasion and we are delighted to have on board Stanbic Bank, fans and of course Modern Coast our transport partner. We will share a meal with the kids as well as donating items to the home. ”
Stanbic Mwamba will play Kabras Sugar in one of the two Kenya Cup semi finals at ASK Showground in Kakamega while KCB host Kenya Harlequin in the other semi at Ruaraka Grounds.
