TEAM NEWS: Kulabu ready for Kenya Cup

Mwamba Rugby kick off their 2021 Kenya Cup campaign against Blak Blad in an early kick-off at Impala Grounds on Saturday afternoon.

Head coach Kevin Wambua on Thursday evening named his first line up in almost a year with Yahya Hussein continuing his positional transformation. The former winger has now been named the starting hooker and will be joined by the Yuko twins, Alfred and James in the front row.

In the second row, Paul “Biggie” Opiyo will partner with Ambrose Mbare as Humphrey Claus, Tony Owuor and Mike Okello complete the backrow.

Charles Chege, who will deputise Tony Owuor  as the captain of the day, starts at number nine and will link up with Brian Mwangi at the stand-off position. Joel Inzuga and Biko Masiva are the centre pairings while Jeremy Chimwani, Nicholas Kato and Brian Kivasia form a dynamic back three.

In the substitutes roll, Martin Jeremy, Mulili Samuel and Jonah Mbari are the front-row replacements with Oola Obenga and Ken Okwado providing cover for the rest of the forwards. Martin Oyugi, newly re-signed Charles Kuka and Alvin Luvai complete the finishers bench.

Veteran Chris Asego is a reserve player and might be called in to provide cover and support when needed.
