TEAM NEWS: Stanbic Mwamba primed for Impala outing

Stanbic Mwamba technical bench has made slight changes to the team that will make the short hop to Impala Club for a Kenya Cup tie against hosts Impala Saracens on Saturday afternoon.

Chris Asira comes in at blindside flanker for injured Gideon Mbithi, while the day’s captain Michael Agevi slots in at inside centre for unavailable Patrick Ruhiu. Felix Top Dog Otieno will start at the blind wing as Alex Aturo switches to openside wing in place of Joel Inzuga who is away on compassionate leave.

Brian Kivasia returns in his favourite number 15 jersey replacing injured Fred Nyachio.

Jonah Mbari, Kahura Brian and Eugene Sudi will continue with their formidable front row duties duly supported by Mike Okello and George Omolla in the locks. Asira, Tony Owuor and Edwin Machanje complete a ferocious backrow partnership.

Charles Chege and Tony Omondi will be the day’s halfbacks with Agevi and Sabala Tendwa completing a dynamic midfield pairing. Otieno, Aturo and Kivasia are the run-on back three.

Front row finishers will be Alfred Yuko, Tom Soteri and Deus Mudaki. Yahya Hussein and new boy Moses Oola have been called up from the reserve side to provide cover for the loose forwards.

Meshack Obota, Eugene Nzioka and Sevens international Daniel Taabu, fresh from booking a Tokyo 2020 Olympic spot, take the final seats on finishers’ bleacher.

The referee of the match will be Nakuru’s Beryl Akinyi and assisted by Samuel Kioko from Makueni.
